Testimonials

Heather Witt, a Westport native, has been training dogs nearly all her life. She founded The Complete Canine Company in 1989, has instructed obedience group training classes for Westport Continuing Education since 1994. Heather's understanding of how dogs think and communicate is inspiring.

Heather has also been teaching agility group training classes at PCOTC and The Agility Facility since 2020, and is a certified instructor of OneMind Dogs' agility handling techniques 1. Heather represented Team USA at the World Agility Championships in the Netherlands in 2022 and brought home a Gold Medal. Heather was a 2nd place finalist at Westminster Agility Championships 2022, and was Grand Prix Champion at Cynosports in 2021.

Asking Heather why she trains dogs is like asking why she breathes - it is necessary for life. A truly gifted trainer, using only positive motivational techniques (no choke collars, no pinch collars, no force, no negativity, no short cuts, period!). Heather will teach you how to better understand and meet your dog's needs through training. Heather lives in Easton, CT with her husband, Dennis, their sons, Finn and Bran, and their dog, Rowan.

"Heather's training philosophy modifies canine behavior with amazing results. Consistent application of her techniques transformed my abused and poorly socialized puppy into a confident, socially adept and obedient dog, around whom it is a pleasure to be. Thank you, Heather" -- Mark and Diana Meiches of Weston

"Heather's effective training methods have helped turn my overly assertive German Shepherd into an attentive companion who is eager to please. People are constantly commenting on how well behaved he is." -- Annette Haacke of Fairfield

"There's not much we can say in one or two sentences that would do justice to Heather Witt and her way of training our dogs, and us. She has an excellent grasp of doggie psychology and seems to know instinctively what they need and what they will do, almost before they do. She has helped us make our time with our two Akitas a truly enjoyable experience. Heather sincerely loves dogs, and they all seem to know it." -- Bonnie and Michael Lieberman of Weston
